With the coming new year, I’m sure many of you view it as a time for reflection & change.

Looking back on 2015, I am so glad that I’m not sitting here thinking about all the trips I could have gone on & didn’t. I really haven’t said “no” to anything this year and it’s been more liberating & exciting than I could’ve imagined. I visited 5 new countries, swam in 5 different seas. Made new friends for life…

Thank you to everyone who has been so supportive and encouraging along the way. (Especially my roommate who really pushed me to go for things I thought were so out of my reach or not doable. She said we’ll find a way, you’ll make it work, and she’s pushed me to bring out my creative side so I owe my happiest moments of this year to her. )

Now about the change part… I want to ask all you for a favor. Ever since I started “Sitting Pretty In the Queen City” I’ve been wanting a different name for it. SomethingΒ a littleΒ shorter, not limiting the site to just the Queen City. I’d love to hear any insights from you! Thoughts?

Love to you all,

Cheers! XO Joanna

  1. I’m so happy that you had the opportunity to experience five different countries in 2015. I agree that travel is liberating! I will try to think of a shorter name for your blog. I do really like the current name you have, too, though. πŸ™‚ Happy New Year!

  2. Hey Joanna. Happy New Year to you also. I like the name of your blog and actually you are one of the few I follow and try to keep up with. Your imagery and writing is very good, so I am not sure you need a change. Will have a think though…

  3. It’s awesome to achieve goals that were once thought impossible. I actually like your current blog name. But if you want a change, you can go with “Pretty in the Queen City” because obviously, you haven’t been sitting around. Or “Queen City Adventurer” or “Treks beyond the Queen City.”

P.S. You look amazing. Keep smiling, girl. πŸ™‚

  4. Sorry, I’ve not read all the replies and suggestions, but how about just “SittingPretty” – as you’re obviously not always, in the Queen City and, well, the name speaks for itself ?

    Happy travelling in 2016 ! πŸ™‚

      1. Ok – how about a play on the letters FX (being the main part of your surname) – like SweetFX (= Sweet Effects) ? Though I bet that’s gone too. If so, perhaps think of another word to go before FX.

  5. Nice outfit. As far as the name. Which is more important the place “Queen City”, a version of Charlotte, or the image of pretty? The change can be temporary, try it on like the shoes. If the title isn’t good change darling.

  6. Happy New Year! It’s always a great excuse to wear something extra sparkly<3 I haven't followed your blog for very long so I don't think it's my place to suggest a name change, but I will tell you this. This is my second blog and it took me a little over a month and a half to come up with it's current name which I'm in love with. I would've done better to not rush into a name I wasn't one hundred percent on. There's also the question of personal branding – what products/physical entities/social media channels currently do you have this blog title associated with? Will there be a financial cost to change and how will it affect brand continuity/consistency:)? Just some things to consider:) I'm so excited I found such a neat person to follow in the new year! Thanks for sharing!

  7. Hey Joanna,
I love reading your posts. I’ve got a couple of ideas for you to think about.
Joanna’s Travels – I know it will be available because it is so specific and it involves your name and what the blog is about.
Travels with Joanna – I like having your name in the title for brand awareness and recognition.
Joanna’s World – gives it a global feel.
See the World with Joanna – might be a bit too long, but it instantly explains the blog.
Good luck with whatever name you end up with. I’m sure it will be a good one.
    Paul
