I arrived in Rome early in the morning after a whirlwind birthday celebration at home. My best friend & roommate threw me a surprise party and I thought we were grabbing a drink while all my friends were waiting for me on the beach to celebrate all wearing white. She had even bought 2 white dresses for me to choose from and this is the one I kept! You’ll see this white dress in a lot of pictures to come. ๐Ÿ™‚

After arriving, I changed and went exploring. I stayed near Piazza Navona which is my favorite little corner of Rome and I feel like I know my way around there now. I stayed in this amazingly priced Airbnb and my host gave me tons of recommendations for where to go.

Last summer in Rome the Trevi fountain was under construction so I didn’t get to see it. I made sure to stop by this time and drink a spritz and toss a coin in.

Some spots I want to recommend:

Gingerย ย (I had salmon and a smoothie – lots of juice options & cool atmosphere) near the Spanish steps

Zuma (rooftop bar above Fendi – grab a drink and see the view)

Sant’Eustachio (coffee)

Giolitti (gelato)

La Montecarlo (pizza)

      1. I’ve also been in early March, before the overwhelming crowds come, and it was still chilly out. Having now been at both times I can say that I much preferred going in off season. The hordes of people waving around their selfie sticks really detracted from the experience I’m afraid.

  1. Beautiful photos! I actually had a chance to visit Rome for a few days last Summer before flying back stateside and was sad to see the Trevi fountain was closed. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ I did get to see a few of the other sights like the Spanish Steps and the gorgeous shops all around there. Plus, the authentic Italian food over there is delicious!

      1. Yes! I was mostly in Southern Italy from July to August, so I also got to go to Panarea and Stromboli via a ferry from Tropea, which was amazing! I can’t remember which restaurant I went to while in Rome, but their cacio e pepe was perfect. ๐Ÿ˜€
